Highlighting our 2nd Responders and nursing students at UNLV-School of Nursing
Southern Nevada CHIPs 2nd Responders and nursing students at UNLV-School of Nursing, led by Prof. Annette Mullis, raised funds to distribute fall prevention kits to clients who are fall risks.
According to the CDC, thousands of Americans fall at home every year, many of them seriously injured, and some are disabled. Second Responders, in partnership with Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, North Las Vegas Fire Department, and other community agencies, is dedicated to reducing fall incidents among the most vulnerable: the elderlies or senior population.
Southern Nevada CHIPs Second Responders program began in 2013, as an innovative project to assist with addressing social needs within Clark County for individuals who use the 911 system as a means to connect with much needed community resources, outside of actual acute health related emergencies. Eight years after its inception, the program continues to serve the community with trained social response workers using a holistic, client-centered approach to assist clients with their identified needs.
